This includes a visit in which we examine the construction, insulation, windows, fireplaces and overall use of the home. Very we will recommend that homeowners have a Comprehensive Energy Audit (CEA) performed on their home. This audit will verify and point out the many ways in which the structure can be made more energy efficient. A CEA is also a requirement to qualify for any of the state funding programs sponsored by NYSERDA (the New York State Energy Research Development Authority). There are many reasons to install DX Geothermal in your home.
Efficiency. DX Geothermal systems are 20% more efficient than water-based Geothermal systems. With 4.0 COP heating and 27 SEER cooling, DX systems remove significantly more humidity in summer and heat more evenly and efficiently in Winter.
Savings. DX Geothermal systems use 50% less electricity to run in summer than traditional AC systems. The winter electricity bill will be 200 to 300% higher than traditional heating but the fossil fuel bill will be zero. The net result is that the overall utility bill will drop by 37 to 67 percent.
Minimal Excavation. DX Geothermal can often be drilled in a six foot diameter circle 12 feet off of the foundation wall. Unlike deep-well drilling the depth of DX bore holes are only 50 to 100 feet. These shallower depths making drilling more affordable than water-based Geothermal, which requires deeper drill depths.
Reliability. DX Geothermal systems do not have outside AC condensers, furnaces, boilers or any combustible/vented appliances.
Radiant is a perfect combination with DX Geothermal. The boiler is replaced with a hot water storage tank.
Payback. 7 years or less without the Federal Tax Credit. With the Tax Credit the payback can be as low as two years, depending on the size of the project.
